My Life in Elementary School
by Minako Sata

I entered Kouwa Elementary School in Nerimaku on 6th April 1990. I was six years old. I was looking forward to it. I was very glad to wear pretty dresses and put on new shoes. I was leading a full life every day. But, when I was in the second year of elementary school, my homeroom teacher died of illness in October 1991. I was very sad. I liked her very much. I joined the Girl Scouts from third grade to fourth grade. My mother joined as a Girl Scouts leader, too. I went to a camp, skiing, skating, festivals and so on. The uniforms were very pretty. I liked them. I can't wear them, but I have them now.
When I was in the fifth year of elementary school, I changed school. But the new school was near Kouwa Elementary School. The new elementary school's name was Tateno Elementary School. I was worried about new friends, the new teacher and the different environment. But my new friends were kind to me. I was relieved. I could make good friends. I went on a school excursion to Shimoda when I was in the fifth year of elementary school in October 1994. In this travel, I fished, but I didn't catch any fish. Fishing was difficult for me. I did kimoda-mei. We were divided into groups of four people each. The group walked in the forest at night. I was very afraid. But I had a good time then. This travel was a very good memory.
I went on a school excursion to Takeshi when I was in the sixth year of elementary school in June 1995, too. In this travel, we went on a hike to Utsukushigahara plateau, and climbed Mt. Monomiishi. Mountain climbing was very tiring, but when I got to the top of Mt. Monomiishi, I was very glad. Utsukushigahara plateau's scenery was very beautiful. This travel was a very good memory, too.
At the beginning of my sixth year of elementary school, I decided that I would take the entrance examination for Kikuka Junior High School. The people around me said, "You won't be able to do it," "It is impossible for you," "You decided too late." But I didn't give up. I studied very hard. Then I passed the entrance examination. I was very glad. And I graduated safely from elementary school on 25th March 1996. There were hardships, but I enjoyed elementary school life for six years. These memories are my treasures. I'll never forget.

My Life in Elementary School
by Kumiko Kanno

I entered elementary school in 1990. When I was a first year pupil I fell on the school ground from a horizontal bar. Then my tooth came out. I bled. I cried in a loud voice. My clothes stuck with blood. I went to the infirmary and changed clothes.
We did a school talent show in November. My part was a town person. I said the first line. We practiced about three weeks. On that day I was tense, but I said my line well. I was very happy. When I was a second year pupil we opened an exhibition. We drew some pictures and made interesting things. All the parents went to see some exhibition things. When I was a second year pupil, a new student came to the school. That person was a boy. The boy was a foreigner. I was surprised. I was happy, because my classmates increased. But I didn't know what to do for him. I thought with my friends. We went to talk to him. He didn't say anything. But we weren't disheartened. We taught him the Japanese language. We learned English from him, too. We became good friends with him.
When I was a fifth and sixth hear pupil, I studied hard. Because I was busy preparing for the entrance examination of a junior high school. So I didn't play with classmates. I was sad. So I was late for a private school, and when I went home, my mother was angry. I thought, I didn't want to study hard. But I worked very hard and I passed the Kikuka school. I was very happy. I said that to my friends. My friends were delighted at that. At the graduation, I didn't cry. I played with my classmates. I won't forget my elementary school life.
